Have you heard of it? The Buy Nothing Project is a worldwide network of hyper-local gift economies based on the founding principle of “Give Where You Live”. It started with just one group in Bainbridge, Washington and has quickly grown to a worldwide social movement with groups in 30 countries!

Buy Nothing Old North/Woodfield/Downtown London, ON, which includes SoHo in its boundaries, offers members a platform to give, receive, lend, and express gratitude amongst neighbours. It’s like a virtual version of asking your neighbour for a cup of sugar, but so much more.

Perhaps you have some home-grown tomatoes that you won’t get around to eating but a neighbour could use them to make fresh gazpacho. Or you need some indoor plants to liven up your decor and your neighbour has some to give. Or maybe there are toys that your children have outgrown and a neighbour can provide them with a loving home.

All of these gifts and more have been given from one neighbour to another in Buy Nothing Old North/Woodfield/Downtown London, ON!

The Buy Nothing Projects offers members a wonderful way to reduce their environmental impact, declutter, experience the joy of giving and spend less and create more connections with neighbours. To become a member, find our group on Facebook at Buy Nothing Old North/Woodfield/Downtown London, ON, click “join”, and be sure to answer the three membership questions.
